Letters from our
friends

June 6, 2008
No estuvo mal.
mucha experiencia ---y me salio bastante bien.
Margarita

Starting Argentine Tango over
two years ago, to the Tango community, I am new, thanks Kim for his
quick and brief review of the history of our Tango Community. I want to
take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Kim for his
dedication and devotion to our tango community, without his enthusiasm,
contribution, great efforts and hard work, toady’s united, informative
Tango community is impossible!
In Kim’s e-mail he mentioned that he did not know the Orlando Tango
history. Since on 8/9 we visited Orlando “ Tango & Milonga Dancing
School ” and danced in their Milonga, I’d like to share some of my
experience and impression with you.
Mr. Hector Barbera, the owner of the school and Milonga, told me that he
and his wife Silvia once traveled from Orlando to Miami monthly to dance
tango. 10 months ago, they established the “El Patio De La Morocha”, “
Tango & Milonga Dancing School ” and Milonga in Orlando to benefit the
Orlando Tango lovers. In such a short of period of time, they have
developed a royal, friendly Tango community. They have all day long with
all levels of tango classes with the instructor Richard Lucia and Silvia
Barbera, and every Saturday they hold Milonga party from 9pm - 2am . The
night we attended the Milonga had about 70 people. It's really a warm
and friendly atmosphere, after our first dance, Richard came to us and
complimented how beautiful our dance were. During the break, Richard
introduced the 40 year's tango legend Jean Claude to the tango community
and commented: "you can tell just by looking at his dance". What amazed
me was that Richard knew every one's name in the Milonga, the warm
atmosphere made me feel I was at home. Richard honored me to pickup the
drawing #, I closed my eyes, mixed the #s and picked up one, guess what,
the # I picked matched mine, I was thrilled, people told me that meant a
good luck, and I believe so, in what a chance that happened! And that
night we watched Gato Valdez & Andrea Monti's fantastic shows,
afterwards, Andrea invited Jean Claude to dance and Robin danced with
Gato Valdez, when Robin asked Gato's advice to improve the dance, he
said:"Jean Claude is a good teacher, he teaches you well." Again, people
were so nice and friendly, at the end of the milonga, they came to us to
praise our dances and said goodbye. What an experience in Orlando Tango
night! Mr.. Hector Barbera let us to spread the words, they welcome you
to visit their Milonga.
